Capturing the Spirit of the North East Equestrian Scene
Based in the heart of North East Scotland, I specialise in documenting the unique bond between horse and rider. Whether it is the adrenaline of a competitive event or a quiet moment during a lifestyle session, my goal is to preserve the stories that unfold across our beautiful local landscape.
My Journey Behind the Lens
I have been involved with horses for the last 50 years, influenced by my lovely Dad who had Clydesdales and now sharing my passion with my beautiful daughter. I love the power, natural beauty, strength, loyalty and character of the horse.
My photography started off 20 years ago when I had a riding accident fracturing my skull and had to take a year out learning to reuse my brain and memory. I was always arty and with support from friends and my specialist I was encouraged to pick up the camera and spend time attending shows with friends and capturing moments for them. This was a life saver and I began to relate again and was able to become someone I didn't know I could be. Many years of being self taught has given me structure but also changed the way looked at the world and life, I can just get lost in the moments and feel the emotions, capturing those glimpses of life we want to cherish.
I am passionate about my photography as over the years it has helped me through some difficult times and I am aware how precious and short our time is with our horses. I try to capture the horses character, bond and partnerships and show whether at work or play how powerful and graceful these majestic animals are.
As they say, "One day a photograph is all you will have left."
A Dedicated Approach to Every Session
I am committed to providing horse owners and competitors with high-quality visual memories. From capturing the peak of performance at local equestrian events to intimate lifestyle portraits at the stable, my work celebrates the equestrian way of life in all its forms. I look forward to meeting you and your horses in the field or the arena.
